No style in the Code?
** stages **
During the last years of his studies, Alex had opportunities to be a very happy trainee. His strategy was to figure out the positive and negative aspects of all the different methods and techniques of the very nice companies and research centers in which he had been admitted. Understand the ins and outs of these very different structures and situations.
The specialization in networks & telecommunications was only a cover for more innovative programming experiments like use the 3D hardware acceleration made for games in order to compute the matrix transformations involved in 3D reconstruction and shape recognition.
A very important work has been accomplished to develop and put together a 3D simulator, a messaging engine and a Flash client, in order to do real time 3D MMORPG-like collaborative application.
And this “hacking” seems to be a lot of fun when involving several very “serious” partners, such as Vinci Group and the CEA.

As an engineer,
I have been teached how to learn
** formation **
Before he became a web app cat, Alex have had great teachers in AI, computer vision, networks, algorithms. Especially during his last year at the Vision Laboratory of the Laval University, in the Digital vision and shape recognition in Québec department.
This was all about a hand held 3D scanner, coded in C++ with bits in assembly language, and which was still too slow. The success of this year has been to achieve optimizing it and it lead to a graduation with the congratulations of the jury.

In 2002, when Alex came out from EFREI, as an engineer specialized in computer vision, it was very hard to find opportunities in internet applications. Especially in the client side technologies. Because they were young and because of the internet bubble and the stock market crash of 2000-2002. Never mind, the web app cat was already conscious that the web applications were his future. So Alex kept trying to find a job as a web programmer.
In order to train and actually become one, he took part in a lot of projects, trying to take adventage of what he knew, as video and algorithms. That is how Apple invited Alex to San Francisco in 2005, to expose a prototype he did : the first "HTML bridge" prototype. That interaction with Apple world innovation department resulted in a deep will not to do it this way, and led the cat to the dark side of application development: the open source.
